Mustang Concepts for 2015 Redesign

I’m really liking these concepts. But they are almost on the verge of being too angular.  What do you think?

The 2015 Mustang reveal is getting closer and there’s been a lot of hype from the Mustang community about the new model! J. Mays, Ford’s Creative Chief Officer, previously said the new gen model will be less retro and way more modern as to move the Mustang name forward. That has people creating their own renderings of what they think it will look like.

What we do know about the 2015 Mustang so far? Well, it will be smaller, lighter, feature independent rear suspension, and will be offered globally. An Ecoboost has been everything but confirmed.

Check out the Mustang concept that Popular Hot Rodding magazine drew up! These renderings are what they believe the new Mustang model will look like. In my opinion, the red drawing looks more like a squished Bugatti than a Ford Mustang, and definitely very futuristic. Also, the silver concept has more of a Mustang feel with the front and rear end and I can dig it. Definitely cool drawings and concepts, but is this where the new Mustang could be headed?

These concept drawings are always a bit on the ‘agressive side’ when it comes to angles and edges. The final car might have the same ‘shape’, but they always reduce the sharpness of the angles and edges in the final product.

I am in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan right now. Had a conversation with a local last night in the hotel lounge. He loved American cars. We chatted for quite some time. When I told him I just bought a 2012 Mustang, he replied “Why didn’t you get a HEMI Challenger??!!??” I actually felt a bit surprised, but it does seem the Japanese like Chrysler products, IF they want American. I do see a few Caravans, PT Cruisers, and even some first generation Durangos in traffic here on occasion.

I’ve seen a few Holdens, but no Detroit GM stuff. I have sen ONE Ford product, a Transit Connect.

Of course, the last time I was here we were walking down the street and the rumble of a Hemi Challenger SRT8 was heard. The guys I was with shouted “WOW…MUSTANG” as the Challenger went by……

I agree the concept drawings are normally sharp. Go figure…you finally get real and into a Ford and someone wants to know way you don’t have MOPAR.
      Enjoy the trip.
