Car Feature: Mike Cavanah’s 1966 Chevelle “Grand Sport” – StreetLegalTV.com.

This is a very well done car, in my opinion.  Modified just enough to make it a powerful machine and still look like a 1966 Chevelle.  I say ‘WOW”  you will too when you read the article. (see the link above)

The Power Plant And Putting It To The Ground

The motor itself is an LS 418 cubic inch stroker with a Lunati crank and H-Beam rods connected to forged pistons. The top end is comprised of ported LS3 heads with an LS9 supercharger. All the machining and assembly of the motor was performed by Scoggin Dickey out of Texas.  Mated to the motor is a T-56 six speed transmission that’s outfitted with an ACT dual disc clutch to help lay the power down to the pavement. All this equaled out on the dyno to an impressive 600 hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque at the wheels.

What is FELINO cB7?

Some recently post a picture of this fascinating car on my Google Plus account and I had to look it up.

cB7 Prototype

cB7 Prototype – Look a little like a C7? That’s what I thought.

So what is cB7?

The FELINO cB7 is a tubular frame vehicle wrapped with composite and carbon fibre elements; it weighs approximately 1 000 kg, according to the selected drive train.

Therefore, the cB7 can be mounted with a 4, 6 or 8-cylinder engine, optional for the buyer.

The early prototype, equipped with a 4-cylinder turbo engine, was tested and received high marks in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, a 6,2 litres V-8 was installed under the bonnet of a second-generation prototype and will be tested thoroughly in the Spring of 2014.

The specifications featured in the press documents are those of the V8 version. These specifications may change. Final model specs will be available in the Summer of 2014.

The entry-level model of the FELINO cB7 will be available at a price under $100,000. Final sales prices will be announced later. The FELINO corporation is already considering the possibility of an electric vehicle in a few years.

PRODUCTION STATUS OF THE FELINO cB7

After three years of research and development, the first FELINO cB7 prototype became a reality in 2012 and was tested on race tracks and notably on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in 2012 and 2013.

In 2013, FELINO built a second-generation prototype, featuring a chassis evolution, along with a mechanical and design upgrade. It will be tested in the Spring of 2014.

In 2014, the company will reach the final phase of development and the level of pre-production. Two more units will be assembled and tested before Production 1 starts. A limited production series is forecasted for 2015.

Here are the specs they vary of course depending on the drive train.  I’m liking it to a kit car – like a Cobra.

Factory Fast: Dave Bridgewater’s 2012 COPO Camaro – LSXTV

Though Dave Bridgewater already had three big block 1969 Camaros and an LS1 Swapped 1969 Firebird that he and his team maintain and race regularly at drag racing events around the country, he still wanted something more to add to his already awesome collection. That something more would most certainly be a Camaro of some sort, being that Bridgewater seems to have an undying love for the pony cars.

When the factory drag race COPO Camaro was first announced, “I signed up for it right away,” Bridgewater recalls. “But I got a call later on letting me know that they were all sold out.” After seeing videos on the internet of Dave Connelly testing the Cagnazzi COPO Camaro, he knew he needed to have one in his stable. With all of them being spoken for already, Bridgewater wasn’t going to let that get in the way of him owning a 2012 COPO Camaro.

Maserati – Chrysler TC Club

So not unlike many restoration projects I’ve worked on, something often pops up that makes you have to set some part of the work aside and tackle some unexpected.  That’s about the same with writing as frequently as I do, multiple articles all nicely lined up and a couple fillers nearly ready to go.  Then BAM!!!   Up pops a car show or a I read something I want to react too.  As it is with this piece.

I wish I could just write all day, every day, but I have a “paying” IT job which is a 7 days a week job and manage to squeeze out all the normal life stuff including ‘honey do’ list as long as I am tall.

So while tackling one of those tasks this past weekend, I happened upon a small cluster of cars at end of the a very large parking lot that normally adjacent to a COSTCO.  At first glance it looked like a group of a flock of Chrysler Lebarons.   But I was wrong, well sort of.

IMG_20140208_102443_347

These cars are the offspring of a collaboration between Chrysler and Maserati.  I wrote a piece a while back on the Maserati/Chrysler TC (http://wp.me/p2YxYx-14x).  Check that out.

Mindful that I have frozen seafood and burgers sitting in back of my wife’s Lexus (it has a bit more cargo room than my C6), I planned on just saying hi a grabbing a couple of shots, but you know how car people are!!!

I asked if I could take a few shots with my Android phone and a couple of the guys said sure.  Then a guy approached me and I said “Hi.”  I told him I had thought it was a local LeBaron club when I first saw the cars.  Well the gentleman was  Mr. Hemi Anderson,  TC America Tech expert in all things TC.  Hemi let me know that although they were similar in appearance the underpinnings  were different –   different wheel base and all.  He assured me that the TC was the original design and that Chrysler came up with the Lebaron as cheap alternative.   His TC had about 11K miles and he drives it only on long drives – like this one (he hales from just outside of Vegas) or his annual Florida drive.   He was a wealth of knowledge and I wished I didn’t have a car full of groceries to get home or I could have spend a few hours going over every car with him.

Here’s a few shots:

IMG_20140208_103024_747

Those Wheels are similar to the ‘plastic hub caps” that are on my son’s Lebaron.

IMG_20140208_102443_347

There were a total of 8 cars and waiting for more to show up.

IMG_20140208_102603_941

I do like the wheels…I think they’d look good on my son’s Lebaron.

TOTD: Will More Models and Sales Water Down the Maserati Brand?

In my opinion the real watering down of the brand occurred in the 80’s under the ownership of de Tomaso, with the launch of Biturbo (and all the models based off of it) and the Chrysler TC by Maserati. TrollHater 5pts. Its possible. Look at how watered
