Fiat Chrysler Automobiles opens trading on NYSE

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles opened on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday, and the price was relatively stable.

Shares opened at $8.98 when the bell rang at 9:30 a.m. ET and after bouncing around, shares are trading at $8.96 at midday. Four million shares had traded. Fiat Chrysler trades under the symbol FCA.

If you’ve viewed the links below you’ll know that there are a few glitches that you need to be aware of with the some of the C6 Corvettes and most you can live with….at least for a while.

One of those is the fuel gauge issue mentioned in this  posting  C6 07 Corvette – Fuel Gauge/Low Fuel/Service Fuel System http://wp.me/p2YxYx-I4 .   So here’s the rest of the story.

The gauge issue started out as an intermittent annoyance, which only occurred when I filled the tank(s).  As you can see in the above posting and subsequent postings/comments that there was a common ‘solution’ for the problem.  Most owners believed that the use of Techron gas additive would clear that up.  But I’m betting most of them discovered that it wasn’t a dirty sensor, but a defective on.   I tried the Techron solution for months and it never seemed to clear up.  Eventually the gauge failed to work at all, except every now and then it would kick up and hang at a position on the gauge for a few miles and then drop back to the empty position.

Recently (within the last month) it began to work in the opposite direction, steadily showing some sort of fuel level, but inaccurate.

The sensor run about $150 depending on where you find them and the fuel pump it’s self from $499 – $600.

The mirrors are just a ‘NO BUY’ for me.  If I’m going to spend over 1mil for a car it wouldn’t be with those…..what?  Look at the spec before making that statement?  O.K. let’s look at ’em.

O.K.   I’d buy it and rip the mirrors off…that ought to be good for 100th of a second off that 3.0, 0-60 timing.

There are very few new ideas in the world of high performance. But with modern technology, we can often revisit a clumsy, old idea and make it more efficient. Such is the case with compressed-air supercharging. The idea is simple enough. Compress and store a large volume of air into a high-pressure tank. Use a pressure regulator to control the air coming out of the tank, and step it down to a traditional boost pressure. Detroit and its last major holdout creditor are hashing out a settlement that would be a major step ahead for the city as it fights to defend its bankruptcy exit plan in federal court.A deal is close but the city and Financial Guaranty Insurance Co. are working out terms of the agreement, a person familiar with the matter confirmed late Monday.Details of the potential settlement were scarce Monday but likely involve giving Financial Guaranty Insurance Co., a bond insurer with a $1.1-billion claim against the city, a share of bonds Detroit plans to issue to settle debts with creditors, and potentially city real estate or other assets in downtown Detroit. The settlement would mirror one the city made with Syncora Guaranty, which had been Detroit’s staunchest opponent in bankruptcy before settling.

Stolen Motorcycle Cannonball Harleys Recovered

Thanks to an amazing on line effort by so many caring people the 4 stolen Harleys from the Motorcycle Cannonball have been recovered. Also the stolen trailer and truck.

All the spare parts, tools, luggage and crates are still missing and there is little chance of recovering them, but the motorcycle owners must be so relieved.

The stolen trailer was recovered in the Port of Tacoma.

We have learned that several of the bikes that participated in the Motorcycle Cannonball that finished at the LeMay museum on Sunday have been stolen. A complete race rig was taken from the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Washington, including a gray 2001 Ford F-250, Texas plates “89LBC7” and a gray 16-foot enclosed trailer with both side and rear doors, Texas plate “4198M”, that housed four classic race bikes.Taken along with the truck and trailer: 1919 Harley-Davidson Model J Texas plate “BDKX4,” 1926 Harley-Davidson Model JD Mississippi antique plate “9620,” 1928 Harley-Davidson Model JD Texas plate “BFGV2,” and 1931 Harley-Davidson Model VL Texas plate “BFGR3.”

I was contacted by one of my followers on Twitter (@CarRestoration), I follow him as well (love a nice GTO) Jason Horn of Beattyville, KY.

He is currently heal up from an injury but he provided a link to what is a monster power plant that he’s build for his 1969 GTO rebuild.

Check out this how this mild-mannered 375 wants to jump right out off its motor mounts!!

Here’s why: It is a Butler performance stroked factory 375 that is now a 474.
Jason is looking at 650 – 700 HP and he’s connecting that up to TKO 5 speed!!!!

This is his 28th Pontiac engine rebuild.
