Challenger Hellcat with ‘600-plus horsepower’ – Autoblog

I’ve said it a few times and I’ll say it again and mostly likely not for the last time.  MOPAR got it RIGHT with the Challenger!!!!!  Fiat ownership or not….it will continue to be an iconic car.

Now take that car that you did so right and boost it’s horse power….maybe up to 600 or more…and…well let’s not mince words…it’s a MONSTER!!!  Chase the link below and check out the video, you’ll see what I mean!!!! Can you say…first every factory super-charger!!!

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with ‘600-plus horsepower’ officially unveiled – Autoblog.

Dodge has officially unveiled the most powerful vehicle to ever wear the Challenger name – the SRT Hellcat– complete with over 600 horsepower courtesy of a supercharged, 6.2-liter Hemi V8. It will be offered alongside the 485-hp Challenger SRT

The new, force-induced V8 isn’t just the most powerful ever fitted to the Challenger, it’s the most powerful eight-cylinder Chrysler Group has ever built. Power figures aren’t finalized, so expect to see “over 600 hp” bandied about quite a lot. That fury will be channeled through either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Yes, over 600 ponies through an eight-speed auto. So far, the only vehicle we know of that delivers more output through that many gears is the as-yet untested Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Sadly, we don’t have performance metrics just yet, although if this thing can’t crack four seconds to 60 miles per hour, we’ll be pretty surprised.

WHAT? Have you lost your mind? I think you’ve been a closet FORD guy all along…just waiting to unload those two MOPARs you had…and move into the light!!!! I don’t think they will build a ‘vert Challenger. They were so mainstream before, either because of production limits or no body wanted them back then.

      They….’weren’t’ …mainstream

Myself Chevy and Ford man because they were mostly trusted products of cars made long ahead than Chrysler. Dodge was the only one I like about MOPAR. They are best muscle cars ever made that I don’t mind owning 2011 and younger. The new challenger that one handsome man looking muscle car, a also better engine and tranny than before 2011 for v6 class. I would buy Super Sport Group with v6. Later on and I would find a manual tranny to swapping from auto five speed to 6 speed manual for v6 engine power. Manual will be fun to drive in a Challenger better than auto to shifting change gears without confusion as automatic can be confusion at high throttle also it big heavy car strong like damn Truck! Take care of it for ten years or more till it becomes a classic, care of it very well. I love all Three American Companies’ muscles cars such GM, Ford and Chrysler. It’s all American blessing for american people who loves other to one other. I don’t its’ insulting for those that didn’t like one company to another, any of awesome horsepower high power of muscle cars would be great. Another reasons why I would buy a Challenger is because when they stop making it or change the style early it’s good to keep it for long long time. Mustang and Camaro will both be same for next ten years or more unlike Chrysler and or trade in every time and everywhere you seen and able to buy and sell over and over again the Mustangs and Old Chevy muscle cars. Where’s Chrysler ?? Too expensive to have good muscle car by Chrysler such as Viper. Today since almost ten years ago Chrysler finally tried to keep same model as Mustang which it about time. Mopar muscle cars I suggest to you folks to keep it one. I would keep Challenger forever. Most people don’t understand that MOPAR cars are special cars! Once they stop making them, they become rare car in future unlike Chevy and Ford muscle cars.

Jim – Thanks! Good points on the limited production on the the Chrysler offerings. As I’ve said before the got the Challenger right!!! I loved my ’69 Dodge Dart with the 318 3 speed, I had a while back.

I almots completely ahgree with you in that MOPAR got the Challenger right. The one item they missed was a ocnvcertible version. That keeps convertible lovers like myself with only the Camaro and Mustang as a choice.
I’m still jaded on the FIAT ownership of MOPAR, but if there was a Convertible Challenger, it would be difficult to keep my Mustang. The R/T Hemi Challenger is not as qreat a performer as a base V6 Mistang, but it does sound nice.

Let me hear from you!!! Drop a note!!
