Well there were the Cobras and the Mustangs, even a Lancer and an Omni, why not a Shelby pick up truck….and naturally it would be a Ford.

The Ford Rapture was a formidable 4 by 4 at it’s inception with gobs of horsepower and not a badly appointed interior.

    This is actually Shelby’s second try at a truck. In the late 1980s you could get a Shelby Dakota with a 318 V8. I am sorry to say it was a terrible product. Two guys in my MOPAR club back then had purchased these trucks and they fell apart cosmetically within months. The cab to bed had a plastic wing piece that the sun damaged with days of taking ownership, the stickers peeled on the hood, an dthe additional flat black paint sprayed on the fascia and grill peeled away after a few car washes.
    The 318 V8 was reliable, but at a smog choked 180hp the performane was nothing.
    Truth be told, I bet Shelby INC today hopes no one rememebrs their first truck product.
