I like the car, but still question the need for a $64,000 Mustang. When you go back to the early days of Mustang and Shelby, the price differential between a basic V8 Mustang and a Shelby was around 20%. Today, the Shelby is exactly double the price of a Mustang GT. Yes, I know the HP is almost double, too, but I just can’t see justification in the price differential.

The Shelby Mustangs are in ‘Corvette Waters’ at the $64,000 price. You just get a much better car for the equivalent money with a Corvette.

When Shelbys and Corbras came out for the second time, the cars were marked up at the local dealership 30 to 40%. I asked the sales manager why and he said “because we can sell them at that price.” $64K isn’t even a base model Corvette (with less hp). Would I pay $64K for a Mustang – tough call – but I don’t think that I would.
